Because my beach house is located in Kitty Hawk, I am going to kick off my "OBX" series here. Kitty Hawk is located in the heart of Outer Banks and is bordered by Southern Shores and Duck to the north; and, Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head to the south. There is something for everyone to enjoy in this simple part of town. Let’s start with the amazing food!
Outer Banks, NC is home to the many wonderful small beach town restaurants that you just can’t find anywhere else. This is what makes this area so great! It’s hard to compete with delicious food with a view!

I have visited this small town countless times and have eaten all over the island, and have found the best family friendly restaurants in Outer Banks. I am sharing with you my family's top 5 places to eat in OBX.
Where to eat in OBX?
My family's number one place to eat in Kitty Hawk is at The Black Pelican. There is a lot of history and mystery here. Part of the existing building used to be an old lifesaving station constructed in 1874. Many people believe that Black Pelican is haunted and have accounts of seeing ghosts from its past. You can read the Black Pelican's ghost story, here. My kids just think its a cool story to talk about over the dinner table. Besides from its nautical mystery, Black Pelican is an upscale family restaurant with ocean views from the top bar level and showcases a family friendly experience offering outdoor games as you wait, Frisbee trays with the kids meals, and a variety of foods from the menu to pick from for any picky eaters. The Black Pelican is definitely worth putting on your vacation itinerary.

I have included a bonus list of my family's most ate at restaurants in OBX. Basically these restaurants listed are our favorite “go-to” restaurants in Kitty Hawk. Best place to eat crab legs?
The best place to eat crab legs in OBX hands down is at Captain George's. I did not include this in my top 10 list because it is actually located in Kill Devil Hills (which is only minutes away from Kitty Hawk). However, if you are looking for a place you can eat all the crab legs you possibly can, Captain George's Seafood Buffet is definitely the place to go.
