My Story

Every Shop has a Story. Welcome to Ours!

Wheelchair Life _ Living life beyond the

Each wreath I sell in my Etsy shop benefits the Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance in honor of my son.

The Gifted Wreath was created in January 2017. It was around this time that my son, Luke, became fully wheelchair-bound. My son suffers from a rare, genetically progressive, and life-shortening nerve disorder called Friedreich's Ataxia (FA).

You can learn more about the cause, here.

It has been extremely heartbreaking to watch my son lose his ability to walk in such a short amount of time. I don't think I'll ever get over the fact that he will have to live the rest of his life here on earth suffering and crippled.

Desperate for finding a cure, I leaned on God for a plan. I started meditating on 1 Peter 4:10 "Each of you should use whatever gifts you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace."

It was with this message that God gave me the idea to create The Gifted Wreath to benefit Luke's cause. Each wreath we sell benefits our efforts to finding a cure, and thanks to my loyal customers and supporters like you, we are one door closer to making this happen.

As I continue to advocate in raising awareness and pursue growing my business, I knew it was time to create a blog. Having a place to document our story, our cause, our shop updates just made sense.

I would like to dedicate this blog to my loyal readers and supporters who have opened their Hearts and Home to our cause. I hope you enjoy reading about our journey in our struggles, our breakthroughs, and everything in between that makes us "fearfully and wonderfully made," Psalm 139:14.

As you explore my curated collection and discover all the goodness The Gifted Wreath has to offer, it is my hope that this blog will leave you here feeling hopeful, inspired, and a little more creative.

Thank you for being here!
