DIY Fall Doorway Garland Tutorial

How to make a seasonal garland for your front entryway.

Fall is my favorite time of year for front porch decorating. I love welcoming the cooler season with a cozy porch refresh.

One of my favorite ways to cozy up a front entryway is by adding seasonal wreaths and garlands!

I have collaborated with my friend Kathryn @kathynpackard to give you this free tutorial on how to make your own DIY doorway garland this Fall. This garland featured above measures 8 ft. in length and is handmade using the finest faux greenery and floral in town.

My step by step DIY garland tutorial will give you all the instructions you'll need to recreate the garland of your dreams. Simply substitute the floral and greenery with the materials you wish to work with for a more personalized garland creation.

The creativity is endless and so are the possibilities with this easy seasonal craft idea.

Garlands are perfect for warming up a home during the seasons and look absolutely stunning draped over doorways, staircases, and fireplaces.

Here is how you can make this beautiful Fall doorway garland as seen on Kathryn's Porch.

Step 1

The first thing you'll want to do is measure out the length of the garland by arranging the greenery alongside the measuring tape to your desired length.

Step 2

Layer each greenery over top of each stem (as seen in the picture below ) so that only the greenery can be seen.

Step 3

Midway through layering the stems, change the direction of the greenery so that the greenery at each end of the garland are facing in opposite directions.

Step 4

Once the greenery measures the desired length, secure the greenery with the floral wire so that the layered stems are tightly tied together. Repeat this step until you secured all the greenery together. This is now your garland. You should be able to pick up the attached greenery in one piece without it falling apart. If you find any pieces not attached, simply add more floral wire to the loose pieces.

Decorate your garland by adding decorative embellishments (optional) such as dried floral or faux seasonal flowers. Secure any embellishments to the garland using floral wire.

Step 6

Hang over doorways, fireplaces, headboards, and staircases. Have fun with it!
